General members are students who attend our events, such as our GBMs (general body meetings), tournaments, and talks. Committee members are officers that help organize these events. Check out question (3) for more details about what we as committee members do!
Fill out this Google Form. Once you do, you will become an official member! Please attach your resume - we have strong connections with trading companies and your resume will be included in the resume booklet we present to our sponsors.
Unfortunately, executive committee applications were closed Sunday, 9/17/2017. However, if you are interested in joining the committee, please stay in touch next fall! The committee organizes Poker Club events - committee members are expected to attend and help out at all events. We have weekly meetings to discuss logistics for upcoming events, such as event details, room reservations, food/prizes, and much more. Afterwards, we typically spend some time playing poker together. In addition, this year we will be holding weekly workshops for new and old committee members alike to get a solid foundation on the decision making analysis behind poker. After each event, current committee members will be hanging out to answer any questions, so please feel free to talk to us to learn about our experiences in the club and display your interest in the club!
We welcome anyone to attend Poker Club events, but please fill out the form to become a member! The only exceptions are our GBMs and SIG Main Event Series, which you must be a member to attend and win prizes.
The SIG Main Event series is a triannual invitational poker tournament organized by SIG. The Winter Main event will be held on Saturday, February 10th! The winter tournament is a MIT-Harvard joint tournament, so students from both schools are welcome. Stay updated on our facebook page for more information. In order to qualify for the SIG Main Event, you must first become a member. Then, participate in one of the two online qualifier tournaments held on Pokerstars. Tpically, the top 40 in each qualifier will be invited. Qualifiers will be held the week or two before the tournament.
For logistical reasons, sponsorships have been finalized for the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters. If you are interested in sponsoring us in future semesters, please contact us at poker-exec@mit.edu.
